ScriptSwitch and the NPC Plus have joined forces to run a series of workshops for ScriptSwitch users, composed of a Type 2 Diabetes education session followed by a hands on forum to convert the learning points into customer's profile development.
Type 2 Diabetes was chosen on the basis that it is a major chronic disease state with a high primary care prescribing spend and was identified as an area of relatively low activity within the recommendation profile, thus allowing for ScriptSwitch to assist its customers in professional development that would provide additional benefits to both prescribers and patients. Customers valued the opportunity to learn from the NPC Plus trainers on the day and to put that learning to good effect within their own ScriptSwitch recommendation profile. Customer feedback was collected by way of questionnaires with one delegate adding;
"I think this is a very useful collaboration for translating important prescribing, evidence-based messages to the ScriptSwitch system"
The workshops were well attended with 20-30 delegates at each session, held between April and May, at five locations around the country; Coventry, Manchester, Cambridge, London and Brighton.
Martyn Carroll, head of medicines management at ScriptSwitch was delighted with the events, "the main focus of these educational events was to improve patient care by facilitating the implementation of NHS medicines policy and evidence-based disease management. This joint working between ScriptSwitch and NPC Plus has enabled us to add value to our existing ScriptSwitch services and to further benefit the NHS."
