A series of new business wins have seen the phenomenal growth of prescription software firm ScriptSwitch continue, with the company now supplying its innovative product to almost a quarter of all Primary Care Organisations in the UK.
ScriptSwitch, the UK’s leading supplier of ‘real-time’ support software for prescribers, has recently signed contracts with a further 10 Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) to provide their revolutionary software to practices.
These recent new business wins takes the Coventry-based company’s total to 62 PCTs across the UK, representing a 100 percent increase since the start of the year.
ScriptSwitch has already saved the NHS over £3 million and, as more PCTs sign up, this figure looks set to increase – with the potential savings to the NHS estimated at around a staggering £300 million per year.
Mike Washburn, managing director of ScriptSwitch, said: “We are delighted to add these new businesses to our portfolio. So far 2006 has been a great year for everyone involved at SctriptSwitch with company going from strength to strength.”
“With the national IT programme under considerable pressure to deliver, ScriptSwitch provides a real local technology win for the NHS by helping to improve care whilst at the same time saving money which can then be re-invested in improving other services. I believe it’s a real breakthrough for the NHS and shows how successfully public and private partnerships can work together in the health service.”
The ten PCTs are Derwentside (Now County Durham PCT), Durham and Chester–le–Street (Now County Durham PCT), Guernsey, Lambeth, Brighton and Hove, North Hampshire & Blackwater Valley and Hart, Surrey Heath & Woking, North Surrey, Sussex Downs and Weald and West Lincolnshire.
The ScriptSwitch software, which was developed in partnership with the NHS and has no links to the pharmaceutical industry, offers clear and unbiased advice to prescribers, such as GPs and nurses, based on information provided by the PCT.
Research by the company suggests that the product can provide a cost benefit for an average practice in the UK of around £35,000 per annum.
